One and a half lakh employees of Himachal Pradesh government departments are adamant on the demand for restoration of old pension. The meeting held on Monday in the Secretariat premises under the chairmanship of Ghanshyam Sharma, Vice President, Himachal Employees and Other Workers Welfare Board, remained inconclusive.
The leaders of the employees union associated with the new pension scheme said that the NPS employees will take out a rally in the monsoon session of the assembly. If the government does not restore the old pension scheme, there will be a protest rally, otherwise a thanksgiving rally will be held. Union President Pradeep Thakur said after the meeting that the employees only want old pension. No other option will be considered.

So far the Himachal government has given 7000 crores to the company. If the Himachal government gives old pension to the employees, then two thousand crores will have to be spent. In this way the government will be able to save 5,500 crores. Employees are also suffering financial loss due to the new pension scheme.

He says that 40 percent of the amount being deducted from the employees in the name of new pension will be deposited with the company and the employees will also get less pension. In the meeting, along with the state office bearers of the union, representatives of the districts and President of Himachal Non-Gazetted Employees Federation Ashwani Thakur were also present.
