Jairam Sarkar is building a parking-shopping complex by demolishing the school, students protested
If the government starts building parking and shopping complexes by demolishing the schools, then the hope of development is meaningless. The matter is of Mandi city of Himachal. The building of the Central Primary School in U-block in a part of the oldest boy’s school in Mandi city, the home district of CM Jai Ram Thakur, has been demolished. The issue of making shopping malls and parking here has been embroiled in controversies. Now the students of this Vijay Senior Secondary School (Bal) have demonstrated to stop the construction. According to media reports, the students, who have been protesting for four days, boycotted the classes on Friday and staged a three-hour dharna outside the school gate. During this, slogans were raised against the construction company and the district administration.
According to the news published in the newspapers, seeing the performance of the students, SDM Sadar Ritika Jain and Station House Officer Sadar Vinod Kumar reached the spot along with the police team. He kept trying to convince the students for about an hour, but the students did not budge. Later, after the intervention of the school management, the students went to the school premises. There Ritika Jain listened to him and the school management. The students allege that the construction company is forcibly occupying the school land for shopping malls and parking.
Teachers had made parking, if construction was forbidden, then Prapanch
Talking to the media, construction company official Nitish Sharma said that the government is building a multi-storey parking and shopping complex. The work is being done according to the rules. Some teachers had made parking in the school premises, children are being provoked after an altercation to remove vehicles during construction work.
Why is there opposition
Actually, parking is a big problem in Mandi city. But where the parking has been built, there is no benefit to the common people. Only government vehicles are allowed to park near Seri Manch. At the same time, slot booking is done in the parking lot built in Bhimakali temple in Bhuli and that is, the one who gets the slot, his car will be parked. Cars are parked here continuously and the common people do not get the benefit. Now there is a similar apprehension in the parking near the school that only the people living nearby will be benefitted here.
